Senior Data Engineer (Snowflake)

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable Snowflake data pipelines and platform infrastructure from source ingestion through silver and gold layers.
• Own platform reliability, performance tuning, observability, failure recovery, maintenance, and cost efficiency.
• Design and operate Apache Airflow or equivalent orchestration workflows, including scheduling, monitoring, alerting, logging, retries, dependencies, and SLAs.
• Build governed, tested, documented, and version-controlled gold-layer models and metric definitions in Snowflake using dbt.
• Partner with analytics and BI stakeholders while keeping transformation logic centralized in the warehouse for downstream consumers, including AI systems.
• Use coding agents and AI-assisted tooling to accelerate development, modeling, documentation, and testing, and help establish AI-era data infrastructure practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience building pipelines, data models, and platform infrastructure in a data-driven organization.
• Proven production experience with Snowflake, including data models, transformations, architecture, performance optimization, and cost management.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow or an equivalent DAG-based orchestration platform such as Prefect, Dagster, or Mage, including designing, deploying, and operating complex workflows.
• Production experience with dbt for transformation modeling, testing, and documentation, or equivalent semantic-layer tooling.
• Strong SQL proficiency, including writing, optimizing, and reviewing complex queries across large datasets.
• Experience designing and standing up data platforms or systems from scratch.
• Comfort with long-term platform development and maintenance ownership, beyond project delivery.
• Experience building with coding agents, setting up development environments, and using AI tooling as a core productivity tool.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code review, and strong communication skills for translating business requirements into technical platform decisions.

Nice to have

• Experience in pharmacy benefits management, healthcare technology, or a related regulated industry.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and related cloud data platform tooling.
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks, data contracts, or data mesh principles.
• Experience with streaming or near-real-time pipelines using technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Spark Streaming.
• Exposure to semantic or metrics-layer tools such as MetricFlow, Cube, or LookML.
• Experience building demo environments or client-facing data products.
