Manufacturing Engineer - Tool Design Expert (Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite five days a week in East Peoria, Illinois, United States; less than 10% travel may be required. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are not available.

Salary: $89,210–$133,810 per year.

What you will do

• Coordinate the design, testing, build, run-off, and application of jigs and fixtures with design engineering and production teams.
• Develop, analyze, and manage manufacturing and tool design projects, including department capital and expense budgets and capital forecasts.
• Coordinate specialized tooling assignments and broader projects with other staff personnel.
• Work with internal and external suppliers to deliver efficient, cost-effective systems and processes for quality products.
• Resolve operational issues involving ergonomics, safety, efficiency, process bottlenecks, and quality.
• Design, develop, and implement manufacturing-system integration for tooling across machining and assembly value streams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience desired.
• Knowledge of decision-making, critical thinking, judgment, and decision-making tools and techniques.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and implementation approaches.
• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and logistics equipment used in manufacturing, including safe operation, maintenance, updating, and storage.
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods, technologies, processes, safety requirements, standards, procedures, and policies.
• Knowledge of manufacturing problem-management processes, methodologies, and techniques.
• Top candidates should have an appropriate technical or university degree with 5–7 years of manufacturing experience, or at least 10 years of Manufacturing Engineer experience.
• Experience in machine shops, gage design, and other manufacturing activities.
• Experience leading drivetrain capital projects, layout improvements, contractor coordination, and manufacturing project management.
• Experience supporting manufacturing activities, including testing and validation of complex assembly processes.

Nice to have

• Thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts.
• Experience in electric drive system manufacturing development.
