Software Development Engineer, SRE (US Federal)

Location: Reston, Virginia, United States; hybrid Flex Work with at least 50% of each quarter spent in the office or in the field with customers, prospects, or partners. U.S. citizenship is required, and the role may require the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

Annual base salary: $137,000–$205,400 USD for the primary location; additional U.S. locations: $123,900–$222,000 USD. The role may also be eligible for a bonus plan, commission or bonus, and annual refresh stock grants.

What you will do

• Operate and support multiple services at the intersection of software development and infrastructure teams.
• Partner with development, service, infrastructure, and other contributing teams to improve architecture and operating practices.
• Drive reliable operation of services for customers and take ownership of service-level challenges.
• Provide on-call support and contribute to incident response and post-incident analysis.
• Design and implement improvements that increase developer satisfaction and reduce operational costs.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages.
• Experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
• Hands-on operational experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting public cloud infrastructure and applications.
• Experience instrumenting applications for observability, including metrics collection, logging, and tracing.
• Experience with capacity planning and performance optimization of distributed systems.
• Knowledge of incident management processes and post-incident analysis.
• Experience automating operational tasks and infrastructure provisioning using infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance may be required.

Nice to have

• An active TS/SCI with CI Poly security clearance.
