Senior Software Reliability Engineer

Location: Mountain View, California, United States

Base pay: $132,300–$240,540 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. The position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build fleet-scale pipelines that convert noisy onboard signals into actionable investigations.
• Develop automated triage and correlation systems that deduplicate issues, route them to owning teams, and provide priority signals and diagnostic context.
• Build internal tools and workflows for self-service debugging, standardized metrics, shared templates, and securely scoped access.
• Partner with engineering teams and subject matter experts to improve instrumentation, automation, and signal quality.
• Lead reliability investigations and ensure findings result in durable engineering changes.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and operate systems across the full development lifecycle.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience writing and shipping production software.
• Experience building and maintaining internal tools, instrumentation, visualizations, and automation using Python, Go, Bash, or C++.
• Strong debugging skills across the stack, including live troubleshooting and analysis of system signals.
• Strong interest in reliability engineering and making complex systems resilient and easier to operate at scale.

Nice to have

• Background in distributed systems or real-world deployed systems such as vehicles, robotics, or IoT.
• Familiarity with production telemetry and observability.
• Experience using reliability metrics and operational feedback loops to drive improvements.
• Experience with cross-team reliability work in mission-critical environments.
