Cloud Operations Engineer (AWS GovCloud)

Location: Hybrid in Louisville, Kentucky; Westlake, Texas; Phoenix, Arizona; or Austin, Texas, United States. Colleagues are expected to work in the local office or onsite with clients at least three days per week. Must be a US citizen.

What you will do

• Deploy, configure, manage, and support AWS GovCloud compute, storage, networking, and related infrastructure.
• Monitor environment health, performance, utilization, services, and logging; respond to alerts and escalate issues.
• Perform patching, upgrades, maintenance, change management, incident management, root cause analysis, and problem resolution within SLA expectations.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure and application connectivity issues involving compute, storage, networking, DNS, IAM, and security groups.
• Maintain security and operational compliance, support audits, and create comprehensive configuration, procedure, and audit documentation.
• Coordinate with internal and vendor teams, improve operational stability and cost efficiency, own projects independently, and participate in a rotating weekly on-call schedule.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience supporting AWS environments.
• Proficiency in Windows and/or Linux server administration.
• Solid understanding of AWS cloud infrastructure concepts, including compute, storage, networking, security groups, DNS, and IAM.
• Familiarity with security and compliance controls in a regulated environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues across infrastructure and application layers.
• Strong communication, documentation, problem-solving, and learning skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively on routine tasks and projects.
• Must be a US citizen.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting regulated, government, or highly controlled cloud environments, including FEDRAMP/GovRamp.
• Previous audit experience involving findings and audit documentation.
• Scripting or automation experience.
• Familiarity with CloudWatch, monitoring and logging tools, and basic log analysis.
• AWS certification or equivalent cloud credentials.
• Experience with ITIL-based incident, change, and problem management processes.
• Experience using Agile tools to plan, track, and manage operational work.
• Experience using AI tools for productivity, scripting, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to improve operational stability, efficiency, and resilience over time.
• Previous experience working on a geographically dispersed team.
