Software Engineering Manager AI

Location: São Paulo, SP, Brazil; hybrid work arrangement.

What you will do

• Develop and execute the engineering strategy for AI products supporting global Vegetable Seeds objectives.
• Lead end-to-end application development with a focus on reliability, security, ethical AI standards, and user-centered experiences.
• Own the platform architecture and AWS environment while coordinating with Cloud, Infrastructure, and Security specialists.
• Contribute to coding, code reviews, testing, debugging, technical troubleshooting, and solution operations.
• Lead and develop engineers, increase team autonomy, manage knowledge transfer from partners, and support continuous learning.
• Collaborate with product, data, business, and global technology teams; manage budgets and timelines, assess AI opportunities, and resolve dependencies.

Requirements

• 10+ years of product engineering experience, including 3–5 years implementing AI/ML at enterprise scale.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Engineering, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Databricks, AWS, and modern software architecture.
• Practical AWS knowledge and current ability to code, review, test, and debug while contributing directly to development and operations.
• Experience applying AI to supply chain, quality, or production challenges in a global manufacturing or agricultural environment.
• Strong experience leading high-performing distributed teams using agile methodologies.
• Previous people-management experience, including feedback, performance management, and engineer development.
• Ability to build and develop technical teams, manage change in large organizations, align technology with business objectives, and focus on business outcomes.
• Ability to explain complex AI concepts to non-technical audiences, communicate in English, build cross-functional relationships, negotiate dependencies, resolve disagreements, handle pressure, communicate risks, and provide constructive feedback.
• Strong ownership, initiative, openness to feedback, and willingness to recognize limitations and adjust approach.

• Experience transitioning solutions from vendors or consulting partners to internal teams.
• Experience scaling products across regions or crops, including demand forecasting, inventory replenishment, or lot allocation applications.
