Applied AI Engineer

Location: São Paulo, Brazil; hybrid work with 3 days in the office per week. Relocation assistance is offered to new employees.

What you will do

• Partner with strategic startup customers as a technical thought partner to build novel applications on the OpenAI API and move them from ideation to scale.
• Provide proactive technical guidance to maximize business impact and accelerate application development.
• Experiment and prototype alongside customers, demonstrating practical Generative AI use cases.
• Contribute to open-source resources, codify best practices, and publish useful resources to scale the function.
• Synthesize and deliver product and model feedback to Product and Research teams.
• Build relationships across the startup ecosystem and serve as a technical partner to customers and the broader community.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, ML engineer, or equivalent, ideally in a startup environment.
• Spanish, English, and Portuguese language skills.
• Passion for startups and belief in their potential to become future large enterprises.
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript, with a strong grasp of AI/LLM best practices.
• Experience building and/or delivering prototypes on the OpenAI API platform.
• Ability to identify opportunities to maximize customer business value through the OpenAI API.
• Ability to own problems end-to-end and acquire the knowledge needed to complete the work.
• Humility, eagerness to help colleagues, and commitment to team success.
• Ability to drive multiple concurrent projects and prioritize effectively as a high-throughput operator.

• Founder or founding engineer experience is highly valued.
