GovCloud, Cloud Operations Engineer (AWS)

Location: United States; hybrid work with colleagues expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Candidates must be U.S. citizens.

What you will do

• Manage, support, deploy, configure, and maintain AWS GovCloud infrastructure across compute, storage, networking, security groups, DNS, and IAM.
• Monitor environment health, performance, utilization, services, and logging; respond to alerts and escalate issues.
• Perform patching, upgrades, maintenance, and routine operations through approved change management processes.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure and application connectivity issues, support incident and problem management, and perform root cause analysis within SLA expectations.
• Maintain security and operational compliance, documentation, audit materials, configurations, and procedures.
• Coordinate with internal and vendor teams, own operational projects, implement automation and cost optimization, and participate in a rotating weekly on-call schedule.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Hands-on experience supporting AWS environments and a solid understanding of AWS cloud infrastructure concepts.
• Proficiency in Windows and/or Linux server administration.
• Understanding of compute, storage, networking, security groups, DNS, and IAM.
• Familiarity with security and compliance controls in a regulated environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues across infrastructure and application layers.
• Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to learn quickly.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively on routine tasks and projects.

Nice to have

• Experience with regulated, government, or highly controlled cloud environments.
• Audit experience, including gathering findings and preparing documentation according to audit requirements.
• Scripting or automation experience.
• Familiarity with CloudWatch, monitoring and logging tools, and basic log analysis.
• AWS certification or equivalent cloud credentials.
• Experience with ITIL-based incident, change, and problem management processes.
• Experience using Agile tools for operational work.
• Experience using AI tools for productivity, scripting, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Experience with FEDRAMP/GovRamp, improving operational stability and resilience, or working on geographically dispersed teams.
