Staff PCB Designer (PCB)

Location: Farmingdale, NY, United States; onsite. The role requires a background that would permit issuance of a U.S. Department of Defense Secret clearance when necessary and compliance with U.S. export-control requirements. ITAR-related technical data access is restricted to U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents.

Salary: $101,807–$179,040 annually; an annual or quarterly bonus and shift premium may apply depending on assignment and shift.

What you will do

• Design moderate-to-complex PCB layouts for digital, analog, power, and RF interconnect applications, from concept sketches and engineering trade-offs through detailed CAD implementation.
• Place and route components while meeting electrical, mechanical, physical, manufacturing, and design requirements.
• Support schematic changes using OrCAD and/or DxDesigner and collaborate with signal integrity, electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, process, NPI, and program teams.
• Participate in design reviews and provide layout feedback to improve functionality and manufacturability.
• Create fabrication and assembly drawings in AutoCAD 2023, parts lists, component libraries, ODB++, bills of materials, and PCB/CCA manufacturing documentation.
• Maintain change documentation and support redesigns, legacy projects, value engineering, and sustaining activities.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of hands-on experience with Siemens PADS VX2.8 or later, Siemens Xpedition VX2.14 or later, and/or Cadence Allegro/OrCAD 17.4 or later.
• Minimum associate degree in electrical design/drafting or a BS in electronic technology; related eCAD training, certification, or career experience may replace a degree when combined with 10 years of experience. A BS or related engineering degree is also specified.
• Comprehensive understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering practices for PCB drafting, fabrication drawings, and manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of IPC standards, including IPC-2221/3, associated specifications, and IPC Class III design and manufacturing requirements.
• Experience with high-speed PCB constraints, including differential pairs, routing topologies, controlled impedance, length-matched traces, and delay tuning.
• Experience with RF PCB routing, including microstrip and coplanar waveguides, signal isolation, via fencing, and specialized RF routing structures.
• Experience with multilayer CCA and flex PCB technologies, μ-via/HDI methodologies, stack-up materials and construction, and impedance modeling.
• Understanding of product safety and EMI considerations, including UL, CSA, and NEBS, plus component data sheets for schematic libraries and PCB footprints.
• Strong communication and interfacing skills with technical and manufacturing personnel, including the ability to propose alternatives and resolve non-standard PCB design problems.
• Must be eligible for a U.S. Department of Defense Secret clearance when required and comply with ITAR, EAR, OFAC, and TTM export-control procedures.

Nice to have

• PCB design experience in the aerospace and defense sectors.
• CID or CID++ certification for PCB designers.
• Audio PCB layout experience, including analog and digital separation practices.
