Data Quality Intern (Python/SQL)

Location: Sant Cugat del Valles, Barcelona, Spain. On-site role. Eligibility requires current university enrollment in Spain, continued enrollment until the end of the internship, and eligibility to sign an internship agreement with the university. Availability is required from February 2027 through September 2027.

What you will do

• Perform end-to-end validation of data solutions across source data, pipelines, transformations, reports, dashboards, and other final outputs.
• Define and execute data quality checks for accuracy, completeness, consistency, integrity, and business rules.
• Support data quality investigations, document findings, validate data, contribute to root cause analysis, and follow up on resolutions.
• Develop and maintain reusable SQL queries, Python scripts, and automated checks for data validation and monitoring.
• Validate data pipeline and output changes to prevent regressions and unexpected results.
• Document test cases, validation results, known issues, and resolution status; occasionally maintain the workstation environment and develop small utilities for internal tools.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Solid technical foundation, analytical mindset, attention to detail, willingness to learn, and a proactive approach to problem solving.
• English at minimum C1 level, with the ability to participate in meetings, understand technical documentation, and collaborate in an international environment.
• Ability to progress independently on assigned tasks while asking for support when needed, collaborate within multidisciplinary teams, interact with different stakeholders, and demonstrate initiative, organization, and a results-oriented approach.
• Eligibility to sign an internship agreement with the university and availability from February 2027 through September 2027.

Nice to have

• Python for data validation, automation, and scripting.
• SQL for querying, comparing, and validating data.
• Databricks or similar data and analytics platforms.
• Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Query.
• Data analysis, profiling, reconciliation, anomaly detection, ETL processes, data pipelines, jobs, and database fundamentals.
• Data quality principles, testing methods, root cause analysis, modern development environments, structured project practices, and GitHub-based version control and collaborative development.
• Spanish and/or Catalan.
• Academic projects, internships, research activities, hackathons, or other practical experience in data quality, data engineering, software development, or automation.
