Software Engineer II - Production Automation (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite at hirify.global's global headquarters in Long Beach, California, United States. Domestic and international travel may be required. The role may involve prolonged sitting, standing, walking, computer work, and occasional exposure to moderate noise, dust, and fumes in production areas. U.S. office candidates must meet applicable ITAR eligibility requirements.

Base pay range: $102,400–$128,000 USD annually for California.

What you will do

• Develop, improve, support, and deploy software applications for production automation, including avionics production acceptance testing, vehicle component acceptance testing, and integrated systems testing.
• Integrate computerized production systems and support applications within production environments.
• Develop software and unit tests for bug fixes and feature requests, and maintain operational documentation.
• Participate in code reviews, software architecture meetings, agile activities, backlog refinement, and ticket maintenance.
• Collaborate with avionics, manufacturing, engineering, and other stakeholders to investigate issues, clarify requirements, evaluate test results, and drive solutions.
• Support test-rig bring-up and maintenance, cross-functional teams, and delivery of software projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering; 4+ years of work experience may be accepted instead of a degree.
• 2+ years of experience in a software engineering-related discipline.
• Experience with source control and issue trackers such as Git, Jira, or Redmine.
• For U.S. office work, eligibility under applicable U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including ITAR, is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python, C++, or similar programming languages.
• Experience in a Linux development environment.
• Experience with interfaces and protocols such as TCP/UDP, serial, or CAN.
• Experience with embedded systems and basic electronics.
• UI/UX development experience.
• Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Experience with Qt or PyQt.
• Ability to apply and identify engineering and industry concepts and theories.
• Ability to research and provide solutions to engineering challenges.
