Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure (On-Prem)

What you will do

• Develop, configure, and maintain uploaders, networking equipment, and physical infrastructure at garage facilities.
• Manage software release delivery to autonomous tractors and on-premises devices across active deployment sites.
• Build and maintain C++ and Python data-processing applications for real-time operational data, including dashcam images and telemetry.
• Manage upload flows to cloud infrastructure and collaborate with the cloud infrastructure team on reliable data handoffs.
• Maintain the operator-facing UI layer used for daily garage operations.
• Monitor server health, network performance, and pipeline reliability while developing Python and Bash automation for operations, monitoring, and deployment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience managing on-premises infrastructure, bare-metal systems, and physical networking environments.
• Proficiency in C++ for data-processing applications, including the standard library, basic multithreading, socket implementation, and WebSocket implementation.
• Strong proficiency in Python and Bash for automation, tooling, and operational scripting.
• Hands-on experience physically configuring servers or computers and network hardware.
• Experience managing software deployment pipelines to physical devices or embedded systems.
• Familiarity with data-ingestion pipelines and data flows from edge devices to centralized infrastructure.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with shifting operational priorities.

Nice to have

• Experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, or operationally deployed technology environments.
• Background in embedded systems or edge computing with C++ data-processing applications.
• Experience supporting operator-facing tools or lightweight UI components for operational systems.
• Familiarity with WebSocket and socket-based communication for real-time data applications.
• Knowledge of monitoring and alerting for on-premises systems and network infrastructure.
• ROS or ROS2 familiarity, or experience with robotic software deployment pipelines.
