Senior Software Engineer (Azure/.NET)

Location: Hyattsville, Maryland, United States of America; hybrid schedule with 2 days onsite and 3 days telework.

Salary: $80–$84 per hour.

What you will do

• Design, develop, deploy, maintain, and support enterprise-grade applications using Microsoft Azure and Power Platform.
• Take solutions from concept through architecture, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Enhance and optimize the MetroAlerts public notification platform and integrate it with enterprise systems.
• Design APIs, integrations, workflows, automation solutions, and microservices for scalable, highly available applications.
• Analyze existing applications, implement new functionality without disrupting core operations, and improve performance, accessibility, usability, and data architecture.
• Provide technical leadership across solution architecture, enterprise integration, application modernization, Agile collaboration, DevOps, and secure software delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 12+ years of professional software development experience and 5–7 years of hands-on development experience, including technical leadership.
• Strong backend development experience with .NET Core or Node.js in Microsoft Azure environments.
• Experience designing microservices architectures, REST APIs, and enterprise data integration patterns.
• Frontend development expertise with React or Angular for responsive enterprise applications.
• Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Container Apps, Azure Storage, Azure Key Vault, and CI/CD pipeline implementation and management.
• Knowledge of Azure networking and security, including VNet architecture, network segmentation, subnet design, Azure Front Door, and Application Gateways.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL technologies, including Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Cosmos DB for MongoDB, and Azure Blob Storage.
• Knowledge of document modeling, denormalized data structures, business intelligence reporting data layers, resilient high-volume systems, solution architecture, enterprise integration, cross-functional coordination, communication, and Agile development.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with public sector, transportation, or large enterprise environments.
• Experience with public-facing customer communication and notification platforms.
• Experience implementing accessibility and usability enhancements for enterprise applications.
