Lead Estimator (Energy)

Location: Any BAM UK office, ideally in London, South East England, or East England; hybrid working with the option of a predominantly home-based role.

What you will do

• Lead and support accurate cost estimates across work types, contract forms, and risk categories for competitive tenders, negotiated works, call-off contracts, and early contractor involvement projects.
• Drive estimating input into work-winning and governance processes, including BAM Baseline requirements, procurement strategies, and pricing strategies.
• Interpret 2D and 3D digital drawings, extract quantities, apply digital construction tools, and compare construction solutions by feasibility, safety, sustainability, cost, and risk.
• Evaluate supply chain quotations, identify risks and opportunities, and develop and maintain priced Risk and Opportunity Registers.
• Present and finalise estimates and tender submissions, prepare clarification responses, support post-tender negotiations, and oversee the handover of estimating information to project teams.
• Coach colleagues in BAM estimating software, share cost benchmarking and learning data, and support team development and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Degree, HND in Civil Engineering, or NVQ equivalent level.
• Suitable civil engineering site experience.
• Proven estimating experience in civil engineering bids as a Senior Estimator.
• Experience pricing a considerable variety of work types and disciplines, with understanding of construction methods and typical production rates or outputs.
• Demonstrable understanding of common forms of contract.
• Proficiency in the use of company estimating software.
• Knowledge of relevant company policies and procedures.
