Engineering Managers (AI)

Location: Remote, global; fully remote with no Supabase offices and the ability to work from anywhere in the world.

What you will do

• Lead a remote engineering team working on Supabase Spark and the next generation of agentic databases.
• Build team culture, run 1:1s, manage performance and career development, onboard direct reports, and handle people administration.
• Own hiring plans, interview candidates, partner with Talent Acquisition, and contribute to headcount planning and organization design.
• Own the team roadmap and project management in Linear, prioritize workflow intake and Slack requests, and maintain clear milestones and weekly updates.
• Coordinate support-ticket work, maintain the team’s SLO, and surface risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs to leadership.
• Train as an Incident Commander, coordinate incident resolution, and lead blameless post-incident reviews.

Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering experience with sufficient depth to be credible with engineers building complex systems.
• 3+ years managing remote engineering teams, including globally distributed teams working asynchronously across disparate time zones.
• Experience managing engineering teams at a cloud, SaaS, or developer tools company.
• Experience with developer tools or databases; experience with both SQLite and Postgres ecosystems is relevant.
• Strong technical credibility in backend and database systems, including APIs, authentication, and Postgres access control such as roles, grants, and RLS.
• Experience leading a team that shipped a developer-facing API or platform product from early stage to production.
• Genuine passion for people management, with experience building psychological safety and a feedback culture.
• Track record of performance management, including difficult conversations and specific examples of navigating them.
• Ability to operate with ambiguity, build structure, communicate clearly in writing, work asynchronously, surface risks early, and collaborate with high-autonomy senior individual contributors.
• Comfort with aggressive scoping and evaluation-driven development.
