Senior Software Engineer, Web Development – AI

Location: Manchester, United Kingdom; hybrid working with office attendance generally Monday through Thursday and flexible remote work on Fridays

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and deliver scalable web applications and backend services for advertising products.
• Build and integrate AI-powered features into web applications and enterprise tools.
• Develop and optimize Retrieval-Augmented Generation solutions for chatbot interactions.
• Collaborate with UX designers, engineers, DevOps, QA, and product management from feature planning through deployment.
• Use CI/CD practices and continuously improve software delivery efficiency, quality, and scalability.
• Investigate complex user-impacting problems and improve application performance and reliability.

Requirements

• Senior-level software engineering experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and modern web frameworks such as React, Next.js, Angular, Node.js, and Express.
• Experience building large-scale, low-latency distributed systems and reliable cloud-based solutions on AWS or GCP.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, performance optimization, object-oriented programming, databases, caching, and data architecture.
• Experience with AI-assisted development workflows, AI/ML APIs or SDKs, and agentic engineering tools.
• In-depth understanding of CI/CD, including tools such as Jenkins, plus repository platforms such as GitLab and GitHub.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience developing RAG solutions or working with LLM-powered chatbots.
• Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
• Familiarity with web security fundamentals, Agile practices, Jira, and Confluence.
