AI Engineer, Public Sector

Location: Remote; U.S. work authorization and eligibility to obtain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance are required. Offices are available in Reston, VA and Austin, TX; the company also describes a flexible hybrid work environment.

Salary: $185,000–$225,000 USD per year, with potential bonus, equity, and other incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and deploy AI solutions for U.S. Government customers.
• Develop prototype and generalized solutions combining generative and predictive AI capabilities, including agentic workflows and LLM fine-tuning.
• Design interfaces and applications that enable customers to use AI solutions.
• Develop creative solutions for unique customer challenges and conduct research on generative AI and agentic capabilities.
• Work directly with customers and subject matter experts, translating AI/ML concepts into practical language and impacts.
• Support pre-sales efforts by identifying how the hirify.global Platform can meet customer requirements.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance is required; an active Top Secret clearance is preferred.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in AI/ML, software engineering, or a related technical field.
• Undergraduate degree in a technical field with a strong background in applying AI/ML.
• Ability to interact with customers and subject matter experts and translate complex concepts into practical language and impacts.
• Ability to develop prototype solutions using UI SDKs such as Flask or Streamlit.
• Knowledge of generative AI concepts including RAG, prompt engineering, agents, structured output, multimodal LLMs, and embedding models.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Experience working with or in the DoD, U.S. Intelligence Community, or U.S. Federal Civilian agencies.
• Experience training and deploying predictive AI models in a government context; knowledge of LLM frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, and Transformers; familiarity with OpenAI, GraphQL, FastAPI, databases, and RAG technologies including Pinecone, FAISS, OpenSearch, and Neo4j.

Nice to have

• Experience with Java and HTML.
• Active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
