Senior Data Scientist (AI)

Location: New York City office with a hybrid schedule requiring 3 days of in-office work per week; Thursdays are required in-office days, while the other two office days are flexible.

Base pay: $163,944–$215,176.50 per year.

What you will do

• Lead a small team creating, implementing, and maintaining data pipelines connecting medication coverage, authorization, payment, claims, manufacturer incentives, and member financial assistance data.
• Develop, test, validate, and refine data models and capabilities, ensuring accurate, reliable, and timely data flow between pharmacy benefit partners and internal systems.
• Design and develop clinical AI and ML applications, leading experimentation, target development, evaluation, safety, observability, and operationalization.
• Apply advanced analytics and scenario modeling to evaluate clinical policies, benefit design, member programs, utilization trends, financial outcomes, and health outcomes.
• Collaborate with clinical, business, product, engineering, data, and technical stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize opportunities, set success metrics, and guide experiments through implementation.
• Manage junior data scientists, including project guidance, outcome management, performance support, and personal development planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or 6+ years of industry or educational experience in a technical field.
• 4+ years of experience using SQL, R, and/or Python to query, manipulate, and analyze data.
• 4+ years of experience building data models and applying advanced analytics methods beyond simple descriptive analysis.
• 1+ years of people management experience.
• 4+ years of experience with statistical modeling and data processing or ETL pipeline building.
• 2+ years of experience working with and presenting to non-technical stakeholders.
• Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare, finance, or insurance, particularly pharmacy benefits or clinical operations.
• Experience developing and deploying AI/ML applications involving unstructured documents, with rigorous evaluation and production monitoring.
• Experience using statistical modeling to evaluate utilization trends, program effectiveness, or financial and health outcome tradeoffs while quantifying uncertainty.
• Master's degree in a quantitative field plus 3 years of relevant experience, or a PhD in a quantitative field.
