Senior Backend Engineer (Node.js) — Real-Time Streaming Platform

What you will do

• Build and operate real-time backend services for live broadcasts, private and group shows, tipping, goals, interactive toys, private messaging, and video calls.
• Develop horizontally scaled Socket.IO services with Redis-based room management, session tracking, balance bookkeeping, and stream-quality monitoring.
• Integrate WebRTC and RTMP streaming, including stream readiness, quality monitoring, transcoding, and recording lifecycles.
• Design and maintain high-availability services, shared npm packages, infrastructure-as-code, deployments, observability, and reporting pipelines.
• Direct AI coding agents, review and harden generated code, write tests, deploy changes, and participate in the on-call rotation.
• Contribute occasionally to Angular frontend features and PHP API touchpoints.

Requirements

• 5+ years of production Node.js backend experience, with comfort working in both plain JavaScript and TypeScript codebases.
• Deep experience with WebSockets, Socket.IO, and event-driven architectures.
• Strong Redis experience beyond caching, including pub/sub, atomic operations, Lua scripting, TTL patterns, and leases, plus solid MongoDB experience.
• Experience running multi-instance services on Linux, including process managers, health checks, metrics, graceful shutdown, logging, and networking basics.
• Strong code-review skills, including identifying concurrency bugs, missing edge cases, and bad abstractions in unfamiliar code.
• Ability to take a ticket from analysis through a tested and deployed change independently.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code or Codex, including writing precise specifications and validating generated code.
• Live streaming, WebRTC, or RTMP experience.
• Ansible, AWS, Jenkins, or other infrastructure-as-code and continuous-delivery experience.
• Angular or another modern SPA framework.
• PHP or Laravel familiarity.
• Experience designing shared libraries or SDKs for internal reuse.
