Senior Software Development Engineer, AWS Fault Injection Services

Location: Dublin, Ireland; onsite role.

What you will do

• Own the architecture and technical direction for one or more AWS Fault Injection Service fault domains.
• Design, build, release, and operate highly available and durable software at scale for AWS customers worldwide.
• Build and evolve fault actions and target types end to end, including APIs, authorization, execution logic, automated testing, and documentation.
• Implement safety controls such as blast-radius limits, guardrails, alarms, telemetry, and operational runbooks.
• Partner with AWS service teams on integrations and cross-team deliveries, and advise senior leadership on technical trade-offs and roadmaps.
• Mentor multiple engineers and promote engineering best practices, incident reviews, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team lead.
• Experience leading architecture and design for new and existing systems, including architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
• Professional, non-internship software development experience.
• Software development experience within the last 3 years.
• Experience programming in at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design.

Nice to have

• Experience with the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Experience building complex software systems successfully delivered to customers.
• Experience debugging and profiling large-scale systems and implementing software engineering best practices.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science.
