Director, Supplier Quality (Aerospace)

Location: Los Angeles, CA, USA; work is based at the Playa Vista office with in-person collaboration. Willingness to travel up to 25% to visit suppliers and support off-site operations. Must be a U.S. Person or be able to obtain the required U.S. export authorizations under ITAR/EAR.

What you will do

• Lead and develop the supplier quality organization, including managers, leads, and Supplier Quality Engineers, while building the structure and hiring plan needed for growth.
• Set supplier quality strategy, metrics, dashboards, goals, budget, and headcount plans to support production increases, cost reduction, and new product introductions.
• Own supplier buyoff, incoming inspection, material review, supplier audits, qualification, first article inspections, PPAPs, and qualification of new suppliers and materials.
• Drive structured root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action, escalations, and resolution of supplier-related non-conformances.
• Partner with Supply Chain, Engineering, Production, Program leadership, and Sourcing on supplier selection, development, performance management, and supplier improvement or exit decisions.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, ITAR, FAR, and other applicable requirements, while reporting supplier readiness, risks, and opportunities to hirify.global leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience in Supply Chain or Supplier Quality.
• 5+ years leading Supplier Quality teams, including managers or team leads.
• Experience building and scaling a supplier quality organization, including hiring and developing teams.
• Proven expertise in supplier quality management, including RCCA, CAPA, audits, and inspection.
• Strong foundation in strategic sourcing, supplier development, and supplier performance improvement.
• Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and procurement tools.
• Track record of supporting production ramp-ups and new product launches.
• Ability to operate with urgency, autonomy, and accountability in a fast-paced production environment, with strong analytical and communication skills and the ability to present to executives and supplier leadership.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% to visit suppliers and support off-site operations.
• Must be a U.S. Person under ITAR regulations or be able to obtain the required export authorizations.

Nice to have

• Aerospace or automotive experience.
• Experience with flight hardware or satellite manufacturing.
• AS9100 lead auditor or ASQ certification, such as CQE, CMQ/OE, or CSQP.
