Lead MEP Engineer (Grid Technologies)

Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates; onsite work with travel across the UAE and wider Middle East as projects require.

What you will do

• Lead the MEP scope of tenders from specification and drawing review through BOQs, cost estimates, technical proposals, risk assessments, value engineering, and client clarifications.
• Act as technical authority for fire detection and suppression, HVAC, LSP, ELV, plumbing, utility services, and EOT crane systems, including calculations, equipment sizing, layouts, specifications, and design packages.
• Run RFQs, technical bid evaluations, vendor assessments, consultant deliverable reviews, vendor document reviews, and material submittal reviews.
• Coordinate with civil, electrical, protection, control, telecom, and SCMS teams; supervise MEP installation and resolve technical queries, design changes, and non-conformances.
• Lead FAT, SAT, integrated testing, and commissioning, and deliver commissioning records, handover dossiers, close-out reports, method statements, ITPs, risk assessments, and O&M documentation.
• Manage authority approvals and inspections with UAE Civil Defence, TAQA, DEWA, SEWA, Etihad Water & Electricity, and other regional utilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and 8–12 years of experience across MEP engineering, tendering, design management, and project execution.
• Proven experience with substations, transmission and distribution projects, power plants, or comparable industrial infrastructure, ideally across the full lifecycle from bid to handover.
• In-depth knowledge of fire detection and suppression, HVAC, LSP, ELV, plumbing and drainage, utility services, and EOT crane systems, including hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing, and specification writing.
• Hands-on experience with technical bid evaluations, cost estimation, vendor and subcontractor management, procurement support, construction supervision, FAT/SAT, and commissioning.
• Working knowledge of NFPA, IEC, and UAE authority and utility requirements, including UAE Civil Defence, TAQA, DEWA, SEWA, and Etihad Water & Electricity, with experience securing approvals and passing inspections.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills.
• Willingness to travel across the UAE and wider Middle East as projects require.
