Senior Forward Deployed AI Engineer (GenAI, AWS)

Location: Remote within New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Connecticut, Massachusetts, or Virginia; on-site visits to client facilities and the New York City office once per week are required.

Base salary: $180,000–$200,000 annually plus bonuses; OTE up to $250,000.

What you will do

• Learn customer operations from inside the business function, identify constraints, and rebuild the function from first principles with the client and a Forward Deployed Executive.
• Build and ship production AI systems rather than prototypes, working as part of the customer’s team and owning the delivery method autonomously.
• Deliver Cowork Activation, Agentic SDLC, and Blueprint Activations for financial services and healthcare customers.
• Use existing industry Blueprints as starting points and feed field learnings back into those working systems.
• Help enterprises adopt AI from strategy through first deployment and contribute to tooling and frameworks for the AI delivery practice.

Requirements

• Typically 7+ years of software development experience, including substantial hands-on production coding for which you were accountable; you intend to remain hands-on.
• Ability to understand another person’s job and become conversant in an unfamiliar business function quickly.
• Production experience shipping GenAI/LLM systems, including handling post-prototype operational challenges.
• Experience building or owning an evaluation suite for a non-deterministic system, with the ability to explain what was measured and why.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to become productive in an unfamiliar codebase or language; proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
• Cloud-native delivery experience on AWS, including the operational reality of systems inherited by others.
• Pre-sales experience and credibility with senior stakeholders, including business-unit heads and CTOs.
• Comfort with ambiguity, underspecified engagements, and autonomous ownership.
• Hands-on experience with Claude, Claude Code, and Cowork, including skills, workflows, MCP, integrations, connectors, or custom harnesses.

Nice to have

• Production experience with containers, Kubernetes or ECS, and CI/CD.
• Infrastructure-as-code depth with AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
• Open-source contributions or public writing on applied AI.

Hiring process

• Recruitment interview.
• Either a roughly two-hour practical task based on a synthetic use case or a live engineering session involving business-function analysis and solution design.
• Task discussion session followed by evaluation of engineering judgment, AI usage, research, and understanding of how to measure whether the proposed system works.
