Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: United States; hybrid work with direct customer deployments and 25–50% travel.

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 annually for the Senior level; $205,000–$255,000 annually for the Staff level. Equity is offered.

What you will do

• Deploy alongside military operators, command staffs, and partner systems during agile field sprints.
• Write production-grade code, integration scripts, and schema transformations while working with REST and gRPC APIs.
• Connect hirify.global Core and Atom Engine with partner C2 systems, databases, and military data structures.
• Debug distributed systems, network and authentication failures, and issues in restricted or air-gapped environments.
• Convert recurring field workarounds into generalized, reusable platform capabilities with Product and Core Engineering.
• Brief engineers and senior military stakeholders on system architecture, technical trade-offs, and operational impact.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on software engineering, solutions engineering, or field software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in a standard programming language such as Python, C++, C#, TypeScript, or Go.
• Experience with REST/gRPC APIs, relational databases, data modeling, JSON/XML schemas, microservices, and cloud or edge infrastructure.
• Ability to analyze logs, diagnose network or authentication failures, and isolate root causes across multiple systems.
• Active Secret clearance required.
• Willingness to travel 25–50% of the time and work directly with operational customers.

Nice to have

• Forward Deployed Engineer or Field Software Engineer experience in enterprise software or defense technology.
• Experience with air-gapped DoD networks, classified environments, C2 systems, military data systems, or operational planning workflows.
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools for integrations, scripting, and data transformations.
