Forward Deployed Engineer - AI

Location: New York City, NY, USA; willingness to travel to customer sites required

Salary: $220,000–$240,000 base salary

What you will do

• Design and build AI agents and agentic workflows using Python.
• Work directly with engineering teams and customers to understand technical challenges and develop tailored AI solutions.
• Build AI tools that automate engineering tasks, analyze data, and support technical investigations.
• Develop and evaluate LLM-powered agents, including tool use, prompting, and workflow orchestration.
• Convert successful customer solutions into reusable AI features and capabilities.
• Measure solution effectiveness using real-world results and collaborate with product and engineering teams to improve the platform.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong Python programming skills and experience working with data.
• Hands-on experience building AI agents, LLM applications, or agentic workflows.
• Understanding of LLM prompting, tool calling, and AI evaluation.
• Comfort working directly with customers and technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to turn complex requirements into working solutions.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, defense, robotics, autonomous systems, or hardware engineering.
• Background in forward-deployed engineering, solutions engineering, or technical consulting.
• Experience building reusable products from customer-specific solutions.
• Experience working with telemetry, test data, or engineering datasets.
• Active security clearance or eligibility to obtain one.
