Highways Lighting Project Engineer

Location: Sleaford, United Kingdom; the role is based at the Sleaford site.

Salary: £46,636–£58,937 per year, plus employee benefits and career progression.

What you will do

• Price customer works, prepare and issue quotations, and follow up quotes to support competitive-positioning reviews.
• Manage major customer relationships and negotiate mutually beneficial agreements.
• Project-manage street lighting and electrical installation works, including financial tracking and procurement at competitive prices.
• Handle escalated complaints from key customers in line with company policies.
• Promote continuous improvement and support the development of high-performing teams.
• Own safety, health, welfare, environmental, invoicing, and debt-management activities connected with the work.

Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer-facing approach.
• C&G236 or equivalent and BS7671 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations qualification, with proven experience installing a range of electrical installation works, including highways electrical works.
• Thorough understanding of highway electrical supplies, including DNO, IDNO, PCN, and passively safe systems.
• Proficiency with basic Microsoft packages used for quotations, pricing documents, and schedules of rates.
• Basic accounting knowledge, including profit and loss accounts and project-level financial performance tracking, with numerical and analytical skills to interpret and present data clearly.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Commercial-environment experience with a track record of developing and managing key customer relationships and delivering sales targets in a competitive environment.
• Collaborative approach with strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, influencing, oral communication, and diplomatic skills.
• Understanding of the key issues and challenges relating to New Connections.

Nice to have

• Experience using SAP financial software and Microsoft Dynamics.
• Capability to focus on continuous improvement in a constantly changing environment.
