Senior AI Platform Engineer

What you will do

• Configure, extend, and operate the AI gateway, including routing, authentication, rate limits, quotas, metadata tagging, and onboarding cloud, third-party, and on-premises models.
• Build and operate automated validation, review, versioning, and release pipelines for skills and plugins; write and review skills, agents, and plugins.
• Run MCP server intake and security reviews, define tool scopes and allowlists, and build internal MCP servers when needed.
• Implement FinOps tagging, cost attribution, dashboards, and alerts for token and compute spend across teams, products, and use cases.
• Instrument AI services and agents with tracing, metrics, and evaluations; build dashboards and alerts for latency, errors, quality, and cost per request.
• Manage agent identities and secrets, collaborate with Security on controls and incident response, provide developer tooling and documentation, and participate in on-call operations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software, platform, DevOps, or SRE engineering, building and running production services.
• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, including tool use, structured outputs, streaming, prompt caching, and differences between providers such as Anthropic Messages and OpenAI-compatible APIs.
• Experience integrating or configuring an API or LLM gateway such as Azure API Management / AI Gateway, LiteLLM, Portkey, OpenRouter, or Kong, including routing, authentication, rate limiting, and tagging.
• Practical experience building with AI coding agents and extension models such as skills, plugins, MCP servers, and hooks, with a clear understanding of safe and maintainable implementations.
• Strong coding skills.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code such as Terraform on a major cloud provider, ideally Azure.
• CI/CD experience with GitLab CI or similar, including automated validation and review pipelines.
• Experience collaborating with Security teams to implement controls, remediate findings, and support security reviews.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and on-call support for production systems.

Nice to have

• Experience implementing MCP servers or reviewing them for prompt injection, over-scoped tools, and data-exfiltration risks.
• Experience with AI evaluation and tracing tools such as Langfuse, Arize Phoenix, Braintrust, Helicone, or Grafana AI Observability.
• Experience with model routing or LLM proxy tools, including routing rules, fallbacks, and rate limits.
• Experience with cost tagging, showback/chargeback, or FinOps tooling.
• Experience with agent sandboxing.
• Experience building developer tooling, CLIs, internal developer portals such as Backstage, or golden-path templates.
• Awareness of AI governance and compliance requirements, including the EU AI Act and data classification.
