Senior QA Engineer

Location: Hamburg, Germany; flexible hybrid model with work from home on Mondays and Fridays and office attendance on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

What you will do

• Design and adapt test strategies and test plans based on product risk, priorities, and delivery speed.
• Apply risk-based testing, exploratory testing, targeted regression, and automated checks to support continuous deployment.
• Build, extend, and maintain functional and API automation with Playwright in Python, including GraphQL API test suites.
• Own test environments, test data, reporting, and pipeline integration, ensuring reliable CI/CD quality gates.
• Find, document, track, and investigate defects, including timing-, data-, and user-behavior-related issues; identify root causes using logs and system behavior.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and DevOps in refinements and technical discussions, improving QA methods, practices, and workflows.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on QA experience with backend, frontend, and API-driven systems.
• Experience working in fast-moving teams with continuous deployment and adapting test strategies to changing scope, risk, and timelines.
• Strong knowledge of test design methods, including risk-based and exploratory testing, and awareness of AI testing approaches.
• Deep hands-on experience with Playwright in Python and API test automation, especially GraphQL; ability to design scalable and maintainable frameworks.
• Strong planning, prioritization, and scoping skills for delivering valuable test coverage within time constraints.
• Detail-oriented, curious, skeptical, and ownership-driven approach to product quality and defect discovery.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis using logs, data, and system behavior and propose solutions that prevent recurrence.
• Clear communication of risks and quality trade-offs to developers, product managers, and management, with confidence to advocate for quality.
• Comfort with Git, modern branching strategies, and agile collaboration with developers, product managers, and DevOps.
