VP, Middle Office Transformation Accounting Oversight

Location: New York, NY; Austin, TX; or Newport Beach, CA, USA

Base salary: $145,000–$199,000 per year, plus a discretionary bonus

What you will do

• Define target-state accounting needs and oversee Middle-Office Transformation workstreams, especially income accruals and accounting gain/loss calculations.
• Lead internal personnel and managed resources in assessing target-state capabilities, designing and executing tests, and resolving issues.
• Serve as the investment accounting subject matter expert for complex transactions, corporate actions, processes, controls, and technologies.
• Support accounting policy decisions by evaluating facts and circumstances and providing recommendations or conclusions.
• Prepare executive-ready status reports, RAG dashboards, and program metrics for steering committees and senior leadership.
• Coordinate operational readiness assessments, UAT, training, controls, quality checkpoints, and governance for the transformed future state.

Requirements

• Minimum bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in middle-office IBOR accounting, fund administration and accounting, performance reporting, or related functions.
• Strong knowledge of fixed-income and derivative accounting, particularly asset income and yield-related accounting.
• Strong understanding of the relationship between investment activity, accounting outcomes, income generation, and trade operations.
• Demonstrated success leading major technical or system migrations or transformations involving third-party vendor solutions and software platforms.
• Experience using technology, AI, data, and automation to improve business outcomes, modernize processes, and increase efficiency, scalability, and effectiveness.
• Experience partnering with technology teams to enhance systems, automate processes, or develop analytical capabilities.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, interpersonal, influencing, stakeholder-management, and organizational skills.
• Experience managing employees and overseeing vendors, consultants, and outsourced service providers.
• Ability to investigate underlying drivers, solve complex problems, challenge assumptions, translate analysis into actionable recommendations, and operate at both strategic and technical levels.
• Demonstrated judgment, integrity, accountability, and sound decision-making in analytical and risk-aware environments.
• Collaborative leadership style focused on developing talent, building partnerships, continuous improvement, and intellectual rigor.

Nice to have

• MBA designation.
• Experience supporting accounting policy and methodology, valuation, P&L, and/or accounting standards implementation or review.
• Exposure to equities, leveraged products, and other asset classes.
• CPA and/or CFA designation.
