Senior R&D Engineer (Medtech)

Location: Mounds View, Minnesota, United States; onsite at least 4 days per week, with up to 10% travel.

Salary: $105,600–$158,400 per year.

What you will do

• Analyze clinical and preclinical CT, MRI, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy datasets for structural heart research and development.
• Develop anatomical reconstructions, segmentation workflows, and quantitative measurement methods using advanced 3D imaging software.
• Create and maintain data-processing, measurement, and image-analysis tools with Python and/or MATLAB.
• Support product development and preclinical activities through image analysis, anatomical assessments, predictive modeling, and technical investigations.
• Generate technical reports, research documentation, presentations, and supporting analyses.
• Partner with engineering, clinical, scientific, physician, and external research teams on technology development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or another technical discipline with 4+ years of experience, or an advanced degree with 2+ years of experience.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required at the time of hire and throughout employment; sponsorship is not available for roles below Principal level.
• For baccalaureate degrees earned outside the United States, the degree must satisfy 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).

Nice to have

• Experience with cardiovascular imaging analysis, image segmentation, or anatomical modeling.
• Experience using Python and/or MATLAB for data analysis, measurement automation, or image processing.
• Experience with CAD or CT image post-processing software such as Materialise Mimics or 3mensio.
• Experience authoring technical reports, analyses, or scientific documentation.
• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, pathology, and structural heart disease, including in-depth knowledge of the mitral and tricuspid valves and surrounding structures.
• Experience interpreting CT, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy; statistical shape modeling, computational fluid dynamics, finite element analysis, or machine learning.
• Experience with transcatheter therapies, catheter-based procedures, or heart valve device development or manufacturing.
• Experience in a regulated medical device environment, including GMP, QSR, FDA, MDD, and CMDR requirements.
• Preclinical experience.
