Project Coordinator (Aerospace & Defense)

Location: On-site in Carson, California, United States; ability to travel to customer sites for short trips when needed.

Salary: $85K–$110K annually, plus potential equity and bonus.

What you will do

• Maintain project schedules, milestone trackers, action logs, requirements, specifications, change requests, and revision-controlled documentation for robot cell design projects.
• Coordinate design reviews and inputs from mechanical, controls, software, and process engineering teams.
• Track procurement, supplier lead times, deliveries, shipping, receiving, customs, export documentation, installation plans, site readiness, and deployment travel.
• Coordinate with customer facilities, security, and EHS teams regarding access, badging, and scheduling.
• Prepare commissioning and acceptance test plans, track test completion, manage punch lists and sign-offs, assemble turnover packages, and coordinate operator training and handoff to support teams.
• Prepare status reports, track budgets, purchase orders, invoicing milestones, risks, issues, deadlines, and scope concerns for leadership and customer stakeholders while applying ITAR and customer information-handling requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing operations, supply chain, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience supporting robotics, automation, or capital equipment installations from design through commissioning.
• 2–4 years of project coordination, program support, or project management experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or industrial automation.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, track milestones, flag risks early, and follow up until deliverables are completed.
• Working knowledge of project scheduling and tracking tools such as ClickUp, MS Project, or Smartsheet, plus strong Excel skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief engineers, executives, and customer stakeholders.
• Reliable, organized, resourceful, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple workstreams and changing priorities.
• Ability to work onsite at GMR, travel to customer sites for short trips, and collaborate effectively across multiple teams.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with aerospace and defense manufacturing environments, customer requirements, and AS9100 quality practices.
• Understanding of ITAR, EAR, CUI handling, and export documentation.
• Exposure to factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing.
• Working toward a PMP, CAPM, or similar project management qualification.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance if required by a program.
