Principal Software Engineer (Distributed Compute)

Location: Remote for candidates in Germany, the United Kingdom, or the United States. Candidates must be in or willing to move to a GMT, CET, EST, or CST timezone, or be willing to work GMT, EST, or CET hours. US candidates must live in an eligible US state; European candidates should select N/A for the US state question.

Base pay: $165,000–$215,000 per year.

hirify.global builds computational design software for engineers designing next-generation aircraft, defense systems, and performance vehicles, using computational geometry, meshing, rendering, and simulation.

What you will do

• Architect solutions for complex technical challenges across customer interfaces, infrastructure, and software development.
• Identify and solve 2–3 critical architectural bottlenecks during the first year.
• Drive at least one foundational platform initiative from design through deployment.
• Define architectural direction for major platform capabilities and lead multi-quarter initiatives.
• Serve as a technical escalation point and enable specialists to build increasingly sophisticated platform features.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with increasing scope and demonstrated impact across multiple teams.
• Deep platform and infrastructure expertise, including APIs, abstractions, system architecture, and performance at scale.
• Track record of improving software quality and engineering velocity, not only delivering features.
• Ability to lead without formal authority by building consensus through technical credibility and clarity.
• Experience mentoring engineers and elevating team capabilities.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-performance computing, scientific computing, or CAD/CAM systems.
• Experience with programming language design or domain-specific languages.
• Experience working with technically sophisticated customers.
