Senior Backend Engineer (Go)

Location: Hamburg, Germany; hybrid workplace

Salary: EUR 70,000–85,000 yearly

What you will do

• Help design and develop scalable software architecture for APIs written in PHP.
• Translate complex business requirements into clean, idiomatic Go implementations in collaboration with product managers and engineers.
• Apply Test-Driven Development, pair programming, and automated CI/CD pipelines to maintain code quality and delivery velocity.
• Select pragmatic technologies and use Go concurrency and performance capabilities to solve specific engineering problems.
• Own technical initiatives from design through production deployment and mentor developers through code reviews and collaborative sessions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on backend engineering experience, with a strong focus on modern PHP 8+ and Symfony or Laravel.
• Deep experience writing clean, idiomatic Go and using goroutines and channels to build high-throughput, low-latency APIs.
• Strong knowledge of SOLID principles, clean architecture, and distributed system design.
• Strong experience optimizing data and caching layers with MySQL, including indexing and query tuning, and Redis, including caching patterns and data structures.
• Hands-on experience or active interest in using GenAI tools for development workflows or modern product features.
• Ability to solve complex technical tasks independently from initial design through production deployment.
• Collaborative approach, strong English communication skills, commitment to code quality, and dedication to peer mentorship and team performance.
