News Editor (CNBC)

Location: Hybrid in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, United States; generally requires working from the office at least three days per week. Must have unrestricted work authorization in the United States and be available to work weekends and flexible hours.

Salary: USD 90,000–140,000 per year.

What you will do

• Manage assignment-desk news flow, including breaking news, source reporting, story updates, headlines, and coverage planning.
• Coordinate reporters, field producers, anchors, control-room teams, digital counterparts, and other personnel covering assigned stories.
• Set up and coordinate live remotes and maintain communication with senior editorial and planning teams as news develops.
• Develop relationships with external news sources and gather reliable, factual information for story coverage.
• Work with reporters and producers to develop stories and sidebars, coordinate cross-department projects, and manage assignment-desk schedules.
• Copy edit and fact check scripts, identify errors, and make quick editorial decisions under tight deadlines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or related years of experience.
• At least five years of experience working in a television newsroom.
• Previous experience requiring organization, leadership, copy editing, and journalism fundamentals.
• Previous experience in business news and in-depth knowledge of CNBC content and subject material.
• Strong interest in financial markets, economics, technology, and politics, with an understanding of global financial markets and interrelationships between economies and markets.
• Ability to thoroughly edit copy, identify mistakes and typos, multitask, remain calm in a fast-paced environment, and make decisions quickly.
• Excellent verbal communication, research, and succinct writing skills; ability to work across departments and locations.
• Knowledge of social media, wire services, and financial statements.
• Unrestricted work authorization in the United States.
