US Sports and Leisure Correspondent (Sports Business)

Location: New York; newsroom staff are expected to work onsite at least three days per week

Salary: $80,000–$120,000 per year

What you will do

• Break scoops about deals, investments and corporate activity in the sports industry.
• Report on billionaires, sovereign wealth funds and private equity firms investing in sports.
• Cover major US sportswear and equipment companies, as well as related luxury and consumer brands.
• Analyse media, sponsorship and other commercial deals driving profitability.
• Collaborate with sports, deals, corporate finance and global media reporters.
• Contribute to the Scoreboard and Due Diligence newsletters and support FT Live events, including weekend shifts on the team rota.

Requirements

• Must be based in New York and eligible to work in the US.
• Proven experience building contacts and breaking stories.
• Ability to write engaging stories, produce timely analysis and identify trends.
• Ability to work collaboratively as a self-starter.
• Strong interest in corporate finance, investment, media, technology, consumer brands or sports business.
