NewsNation Associate Producer, NNL Weekends (Chicago)

Location: Chicago, Illinois; onsite at the network's Chicago offices. Full-time role with flexible assigned shifts and on-call availability during overnights, mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Salary: $66,300–$75,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

What you will do

• Pitch story ideas and contribute to coverage of political, domestic, and international news.
• Produce live guest segments and correspondent hits for the weekend edition of NewsNation Live.
• Collaborate with correspondents to create accurate live hits and update stories with new details throughout the show.
• Find, create, and quickly load video, graphics, and lower thirds into the rundown.
• Write, organize, and produce VO readers, teases, anchor intros, and other scripts.
• Keep the Executive Producer and Senior Producer informed of story developments and complete other assignments from show leaders or news management.

Requirements

• Experience in national or major-market television news is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• Knowledge and experience editing video and creating graphics.
• Excellent verbal, written, grammar, and analytical skills.
• Excellent knowledge of current events and politics, with strong news judgment.
• Ability to handle multiple projects or assignments with attention to detail and work under stress with short deadlines.
• Self-starter who proactively seeks tasks and opportunities for growth and thrives in a collaborative work environment.
• Ability to work at a computer for extended periods and work flexible assigned shifts, including overnight, morning, weekend, and holiday on-call coverage.
