Product Designer

Location: Chippenham, UK. Working location depends on proximity to an NEC office: hybrid for candidates within 25 miles of an office and home-based otherwise. Candidates must have a pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK.

What you will do

• Design and improve complex, long-established software products.
• Connect design, prototyping, user learning, and feedback into a shorter product discovery cycle.
• Create functional prototypes and work with coded components to test ideas with users.
• Investigate difficult interaction problems, identify patterns, establish principles, and test solutions against real-world scenarios.
• Help create reusable design standards and shape the future product design language.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, domain experts, and users while influencing decisions without formal authority.

Requirements

• Analytical, curious, systems-oriented, decisive, adaptable, collaborative, and constructive approach to design.
• Ability to absorb complex information, identify relationships, separate evidence from assumptions, and structure ambiguous problems.
• Ability to understand users, workflows, behaviours, dependencies, states, constraints, and consequences across complex products.
• Ability to turn ideas into tangible prototypes, put them in front of users, observe outcomes, and improve solutions.
• Ability to explain design decisions and build shared understanding with people from different perspectives and areas of expertise.
• Fluent in Figma.
• Experience creating and using design systems.
• Pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK, with documentary evidence required.
• Current SC-level or higher national security vetting, NPPV Level 3, or the ability to gain Enhanced Security Clearance in addition to Baseline Personnel Security Standard.

Nice to have

• Background in enterprise software, B2B SaaS, healthcare, financial services, engineering, logistics, government, data products, consultancy, or contracting.
• Experience working in an established product team.
• Experience in the company's particular software sector is not essential.
• Existing familiarity with new design tools and AI-related changes in design and software development.
