Salary: $7,158.42–$10,292.25 CAD monthly

What you will do

• Advise students across faculties on academic, personal, professional, course selection, degree requirements, career planning, work-integrated learning, and skill-building opportunities.
• Interpret university policies and procedures and support academic progression, including transfer credits, waivers, academic concessions, late withdrawals, blocked classes, and graduation eligibility.
• Identify students in personal or academic crisis, provide guidance on academic options and campus support services, and facilitate resolution of student-faculty disputes.
• Evaluate and approve requests to study outside hirify.global Okanagan, support exchange-related advising, and maintain knowledge of worldwide educational systems.
• Develop and implement student transition, retention, advising, orientation, recruitment, and engagement initiatives and events.
• When assigned as a faculty specialist, advise faculty committees and members on curriculum, degree design, experiential learning, policies, advising services, technologies, and program improvements.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
• Three to four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own.
• Commitment to enhancing personal awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

• Experience working with domestic, international, Aboriginal, and students with disabilities.

• Full-time staff position in the Academic Advising department at hirify.global Okanagan.
• Work independently under the general direction of the Manager, Academic & Career Advising.
• Work with students from all faculties and collaborate with faculty, staff, committees, community leaders, and communications teams.
• May supervise student staff or volunteers and train colleagues on faculty-specific programs and advising requirements.
• Participate in academic and career programming, campus events, conferences, and workshops.
