Interaction Design - Sr. Consultant (AI)

Location: San Francisco; candidates must reside in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York City area and be willing to travel for research, client meetings, and project delivery.

Base compensation: $110,000–$160,000 annually.

What you will do

• Shape digital products and services from early concepts through detailed design and implementation across interaction, service, and visual design.
• Define user and business opportunity areas, experience requirements, concepts, interaction models, wireframes, screens, components, and prototypes.
• Lead client workshops, cross-disciplinary analysis, research, testing, and piloting with users, providers, clients, and subject-matter experts.
• Use AI tools for research synthesis, ideation, concept development, testing, and prototyping while applying human judgment to refine outputs.
• Present design rationale, recommendations, requirements, specifications, interaction behaviors, and implementation guidelines to clients and partners.
• Mentor junior designers, lead client conversations, contribute to the design community, and support proposals, pitches, and small project teams when required.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in interaction design or a related role such as UX Designer or Product Designer.
• Strong interaction-design skills demonstrated through a recent portfolio; applications without a portfolio cannot be accepted.
• Experience developing digital-product concepts, interaction models, wireframes, screens, components, and prototypes.
• Ability to move between strategic, conceptual thinking and high-quality detailed design.
• Experience conducting and synthesizing qualitative and quantitative design research.
• Advanced proficiency in Figma, especially interaction logic, component design, and prototyping.
• Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams as a senior contributor or experience-design lead.
• Working knowledge of current AI and GenAI tools and experience applying them to synthesis, ideation, testing, and prototyping.
• Strong client-facing communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, plus strategic and commercial awareness connecting design decisions to user needs and business outcomes.

• Residency in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York City area and willingness to travel for research, client meetings, and project delivery.

Nice to have

• Degree in Interaction Design, Visual Communication, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related design or behavioral-science field.
• Experience designing or prototyping GenAI-enabled products, including LLM-based products, agentic systems, multimodal interactions, or generative content capabilities.
• Experience in start-up, corporate, agency, or consulting environments.
• Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Lean, or Waterfall delivery methods.
• Knowledge of accessibility best practices, tools, and standards.
• Additional professional, academic, cultural, or language experience that brings a broader perspective to design.
