Enterprise Architect (Fintech)

Location: 100% remote for candidates residing in Virginia; candidates residing in Maryland and Washington, DC must be willing to work hybrid from the Arlington, VA office. Remote consideration is available in states where hirify.global or a subsidiary has an established physical presence.

Salary: $117,800–$189,000 annually, plus eligibility for up to 10% annual incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Own and maintain the end-to-end architecture map for the lending lifecycle, including systems, data stores, integrations, and ownership.
• Define the target-state architecture and sequence modernization across the core platform, decisioning, lending core, environments, and infrastructure as code.
• Establish canonical decisioning data models and vendor-adapter contracts for credit bureau, cash-flow, and KYB data.
• Integrate data, analytics, reporting, machine learning, and model deployment architecture while defining operational and analytical data boundaries.
• Lead API, event-driven, middleware, security, resilience, observability, and disaster-recovery standards across Salesforce, AWS, core platforms, and third parties.
• Build an architecture practice with principles, ADRs, design reviews, build-versus-buy discipline, responsible AI guardrails, and cross-functional mentoring.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture, including several years as an enterprise or solution architect owning complex, high-volume transactional systems end to end.
• Deep AWS cloud-native architecture experience with containers, serverless, event-driven patterns, API management, relational and NoSQL data stores, security, and cost controls.
• Strong data and analytics architecture experience covering canonical and semantic models, warehouse and lakehouse patterns such as Snowflake, operational-versus-analytical data separation, integration, and adapter patterns.
• Experience operating across the boundary between data organizations and engineering teams.
• Demonstrated experience modernizing legacy production systems using strangler and incremental-migration approaches.
• Security-and-compliance-by-design experience, ideally in lending, fintech, banking, insurance, or another regulated industry.
• Exceptional cross-functional influence and communication with product, engineering, data, security, executives, and technical teams.
• Pragmatic, outcome-first decision-making focused on sequencing work to business value and documenting architectural rationale.

Nice to have

• Salesforce platform architecture at scale and experience with a modern lending or core-banking platform such as Mambu.
• Runtime and framework modernization, including PHP major-version upgrades, and microservice decomposition of a monolith.
• Experience with credit-decisioning ecosystems, including Experian, LexisNexis, Plaid, cash-flow providers, model deployment, and model-risk governance.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling, AI guardrails, and infrastructure as code using Terraform or OpenTofu.
• Experience using a recognized architecture framework such as TOGAF.
