Commodity Manager

Location: Hybrid in Sidney, Ohio, USA; ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.

What you will do

• Develop and implement sourcing strategies for direct-material commodities to improve supply assurance and flexibility.
• Lead cost containment initiatives and inflation forecasting for current and future years.
• Establish working-capital improvement goals through optimized payment terms, reduced inventory, and shorter lead times.
• Build capacity plans and regionalization roadmaps for commodity components.
• Negotiate and execute supplier agreements and conduct electronic sourcing events, including RFQs and e-auctions.
• Partner with Supplier Quality to reduce PPM, manage corrective actions, and communicate strategies across cross-functional groups.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• Three to five years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, or related functions, including one to three years in commodity management or category-specific sourcing.
• Strong project management capability with a record of timely execution.
• Ability to evaluate processes and recommend improvements.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, and data analysis tools.
• Ability to communicate effectively with large cross-functional groups, lead meetings, present strategy, and demonstrate professionalism.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• More than five years of procurement or sourcing experience.
• Experience developing and sourcing suppliers for mechanical or electronic components.
• Prior responsibility for managing a commodity, leading a project team, or owning a category strategy.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings or blueprints.
• Familiarity with DDSC or Perfect Execution methodologies.
