Senior Lead Scrum Master

Location: Chicago, IL, United States; other listed location: Barrington, IL. Full-time onsite role. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employment-based visa sponsorship.

Salary: $95,600–$162,400 USD annual base pay, plus a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.

What you will do

• Serve as a Scrum team servant leader and create empowered, self-organizing, high-performing teams.
• Mentor teams, Product Owners, and stakeholders on Scrum, Agile practices, engineering practices, and business value.
• Facilitate product backlog refinement, team agreements, release planning, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Coach teams on story slicing, estimation, design/build/test activities, early testing, engineering practices, velocity, and Potentially Shippable Increments.
• Identify and mitigate risks, issues, and dependencies; remove impediments and improve delivery transparency and communication.
• Assess Agile maturity, implement sustainable improvements, facilitate fact-based discussions, build consensus, and support decision-making.

Requirements

• College or university degree and relevant proven work experience using Agile practices in a Scrum Master role.
• Seasoned expertise in Agile principles and practices, with deep technical and/or business knowledge.
• Excellent oral and written communication, time management, facilitation, leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
• Ability to establish strong working relationships, promote communication across teams and programs, build trust, empower teams, and use servant leadership.
• Ability to manage challenging situations through negotiation and conflict resolution.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, including planning, development, quality assurance, change management, and release management.
• Excellent understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall, and other software development methodologies and fundamentals.
• Strong knowledge and experience with continuous integration, automated testing, TDD, ATDD, pairing, Agile games, and related Agile techniques.
• Experience developing and executing plans, meeting deadlines, coordinating timelines and efforts, and applying advanced principles, theories, and experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Agile Lifecycle Management tools such as JIRA, Rally/CA Agile Central, or VersionOne.
• Certified Scrum Professional and/or Certified Scrum Master certification.
