Freelance - Science & Technical Writer (all genders) - The Decoder

Location: Remote within the European Economic Area; being based in or near Vienna is a plus for occasional in-person meetings.

What you will do

• Write whitepapers, technical articles, and scientific content representing the company’s technology and research accurately.
• Make complex deep-tech topics accessible to informed B2B audiences without oversimplifying them.
• Manage content projects independently from briefing through expert reviews, feedback incorporation, and final sign-off.
• Interview subject-matter experts, coordinate reviews, and deliver publication-ready content in German and English.
• Suggest diagrams, infographics, and data visualizations where they add value.

Requirements

• Several years of proven experience in scientific or technical writing, ideally in deep-tech or a B2B technology environment.
• Background in natural sciences, engineering, or a related technical field, with genuine interest in eye tracking or related topics such as computer vision, human-machine interaction, or wearables.
• Ability to independently work through complex topics after a briefing, ask the right questions, and find answers independently.
• Flawless writing in German and English, with strong accuracy, nuance, and tone.
• Structured, reliable, and precise working style, with ownership from first draft to final version.
• High standards for the quality and accuracy of submitted work.
