Software Engineer (Cloud Services)

Location: Morrisville, North Carolina, United States; hybrid working environment with some in-office and/or in-person expectations.

Salary: 170,000–253,000 USD per year, with final compensation determined by location, qualifications, experience, and education.

What you will do

• Develop, test, automate, and deploy cloud-based solutions and managed Cloud Services.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including product design, development, verification, troubleshooting, delivery, and project specification authoring.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations, incident management, and production issue resolution within agreed SLAs and SLOs.
• Monitor and analyze system health, availability, and latency using Google native tooling, then improve application performance, availability, and reliability.
• Deliver bug fixes, updates, automation, customer root-cause analyses, and specification updates.
• Mentor junior members, participate in interviews, and contribute to building high-performance teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, a master’s degree, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in at least one of C, C++, or Golang.
• Experience with scripting and infrastructure automation using tools or languages such as Ansible, Python, Go, Perl, or Ruby.
• Thorough understanding of Linux or other Unix-like operating systems.
• Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms, with expertise in REST API design and implementation.
• Deep working knowledge of containers, Kubernetes, and serverless computing implementation.
• Understanding of SDLC, distributed systems, and DevOps development methodologies.
• Ability to complete multiple moderately complex technical tasks.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python, Java, or C#.
• Prior experience with filesystem development and distributed system design.
• Strong familiarity with Google Cloud, or other hyperscalers such as AWS and Azure.
