Senior IT Audit Manager (Insurance)

Location: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan; primarily office-based. Some domestic and international travel may be required.

What you will do

• Lead technology audit engagements covering applications, core infrastructure, information security, and change across Japan and APAC.
• Support the development and execution of risk-based audit plans and lead the full audit lifecycle, including planning, control testing, reporting, and issue verification.
• Evaluate technology and security risks, controls, and the business risk and control environment through stakeholder meetings, walkthroughs, and data analytics.
• Monitor technology transformation initiatives, including IT modernization and cloud migrations, and perform Change Reviews as needed.
• Coordinate globally on audit execution, including audit reporting, workpaper review, and follow-up and verification of issue closure.
• Mentor audit staff, support their development, and promote knowledge sharing across the team.

Requirements

• Native-level Japanese and business-level English are required for written and verbal communication with Japan-based and global stakeholders.
• 6–8 years of relevant audit experience.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree; a degree in Computer Science or Information Systems is preferred.
• A professional certification such as CIA, CISA, CRISC, or CISSP is expected, or must be obtained within the first 12 months of employment.
• Ability to deliver difficult messages, determine appropriate reporting and escalation, and communicate audit results clearly to senior management and regulators.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple engagements in a changing environment, and collaborate effectively in a team-oriented setting.
• Strong leadership, relationship-building, communication, presentation, and project management skills.
• Ability to promote intellectual curiosity and facilitate open information sharing and knowledge exchange.

Nice to have

• Experience conducting audits in cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Experience using data analysis tools for auditing, such as MS Excel, Access, ACL, IDEA, QlikView, or Tableau.
• Experience in the financial services or insurance industries.
