VP, Data Strategy & Governance (Healthcare)

What you will do

• Define and own the enterprise data strategy, roadmap, portfolio governance, investment priorities, and measurable business outcomes.
• Drive data governance, data quality, metadata, lineage, master data management, access governance, stewardship, and data product adoption across the enterprise.
• Build and lead a high-performing organization covering sensitive data governance, data mapping, enrichment, quality, democratization, and program management.
• Evaluate and implement data governance platforms, catalogs, marketplaces, quality tools, metadata systems, automated scanning, tagging, and labeling capabilities across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Operationalize ML/AI-based governance approaches, including automated lineage discovery, anomaly detection, synthetic data generation, and differential privacy.
• Lead data risk management and regulatory compliance, strengthen encryption, tokenization, masking, DLP, and access controls, and provide executive and Board-level reporting.

Requirements

• 10+ years of senior leadership experience in data governance, data management, or data strategy within large, complex, matrixed corporate environments.
• 10+ years of hands-on data governance experience across on-premises and cloud-native environments, including AWS, Azure, GCP, or equivalent.
• Track record of building and scaling data governance programs from concept through enterprise adoption, with measurable improvements in data quality, compliance, and business outcomes.
• Experience managing large, multi-workstream strategic, technology implementation, and organizational transformation programs on time and within budget.
• Hands-on experience or leadership responsibility for data catalogs, data lineage platforms, data marketplaces, and data quality frameworks.
• Deep expertise in data architecture, data warehousing, data quality processes, enterprise data modeling, and data protection strategies including encryption, tokenization, masking, DLP, and role-based access control.
• Working knowledge of cybersecurity assessment methods and data security controls, with experience partnering with CISO and Security or Enterprise Architecture functions.
• Familiarity with ML/AI-based data governance, including metadata tagging, anomaly detection, synthetic data, and differential privacy.
• Strong command of HIPAA, CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, and related data privacy legislation.
• Ability to establish a data product mindset, manage data products through their lifecycle, communicate with C-suite and Board stakeholders, and drive change through influence in matrixed organizations.
• Advanced degree required in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Management, Statistics, Mathematics, Law, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience in consumer goods, healthcare, financial services, or technology industries.
• Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, MBA, dual technical/business or legal degrees, or professional certifications such as CDMP, CIPP, CISM, CISSP, or cloud data platform certifications.
