Data Scientist (Data Mapping & Architecture Support)

What you will do

• Identify, trace, and document data flows across systems, including transformations, dependencies, and ownership.
• Build and maintain a comprehensive data dictionary covering field meanings, formats, sources, and business context.
• Work with the Enterprise Architect to apply data mapping and dictionary findings to technical architecture, policies, standards, and business logic.
• Analyze data for consistency, accuracy, and completeness; identify conflicts and recommend standardization.
• Partner with HR, Finance, Operations, and other stakeholders to validate business rules and data definitions.
• Produce data lineage diagrams, dictionary entries, mapping reports, and other documentation for technical and non-technical users.

Requirements

• Experience with data mapping and data lineage tools and techniques.
• Strong skills in building and maintaining a data dictionary or metadata repository.
• Solid understanding of data modeling concepts, including entities, relationships, and schemas.
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language, with Python preferred.
• Experience working with large, multi-source datasets, including databases, APIs, and flat files.
• Ability to interpret business logic and policy and translate them into clear data definitions.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.

Nice to have

• Experience working alongside Enterprise Architects or data governance teams.
• Familiarity with Databricks, Delta Lake, or similar data platforms.
• Exposure to data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK or metadata management tools such as Collibra and Alation.
• Background in HR, employee, or other sensitive or regulated data domains.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar data visualization tools for presenting mapping findings.
