Technical Content Lead (AI)

Location: On-site in New York or Mountain View, United States; willingness to travel for team collaboration, lab work, customer evaluations, and relevant industry events.

Salary: $145,000–$205,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Write original blog posts, social copy, research stories, technical essays, whitepapers, explainers, and technical documentation about Normal's hardware and applied AI research.
• Work directly with scientists, researchers, and engineers to develop content from primary sources, lead expert reviews, and maintain technical accuracy.
• Edit and co-author external-facing content, presentations, customer collateral, website content, explainer videos, and technical design assets.
• Track industry products, competitive positioning, ecosystem developments, and value propositions; provide regular reports on trends and milestones.
• Interpret benchmarks and technical results, explain system performance, and develop evaluation materials, decks, briefs, FAQs, and searchable technical explanations for customers.
• Develop diagrams, plots, reproducible examples, and notebooks where useful; participate in engineering meetings, research discussions, lab sessions, roadshows, and customer conversations.

Requirements

• Portfolio of substantial technical work authored by the candidate, with evidence of consistently publishing strong work at pace.
• Deep-tech journalism or equivalent in-house writing and editing experience; research, engineering, or technical marketing backgrounds may also qualify with equivalent evidence of original writing, editorial judgment, and delivery.
• Ability to engage in substantive discussions with technical leads and develop original writing from primary sources; depth and quality of work matter more than a particular degree or title.
• Ability to develop credible and precise understanding of AI inference, computer architecture, semiconductors, computational physics, or related challenging technical subjects.
• Ability to read research papers, question benchmarks, explain mechanisms in original words, assess assumptions and valid comparisons, and identify when further measurement is required.
• Comfort working with benchmark data, plots, technical diagrams, and code or notebooks when they are part of the underlying work.
• Ability to write clearly and precisely for domain experts, customers, and executives while considering visual explanations alongside prose.
• Ability to build trust with researchers and engineers, collaborate cross-functionally, manage expert reviews, meet a regular publishing cadence, and protect technical accuracy.
• Willingness to travel for team collaboration, lab work, customer evaluations, and relevant industry events.
