Staff Technical Writer (AI/Observability)

Location: Remote in Germany, Canada, Ireland, Spain, the UK, or the USA. In-person onboarding is expected.

Base compensation in Germany: EUR 85,000–102,000 per year. Compensation varies by country, level, experience, and skillset; equity and bonus may also apply.

What you will do

• Plan, research, write, and maintain documentation and learning content, including concepts, tasks, tutorials, references, and in-product learning.
• Use AI tools for drafting, structuring, technical validation, consistency checks, and content maintenance, while verifying all output and improving shared AI workflows.
• Partner with engineers, product managers, subject matter experts, and writers to understand requirements and turn complex technical details into clear, accurate content.
• Run and test software, follow documented procedures, and identify product and user-experience gaps.
• Use documentation analytics and user feedback to find content gaps, prioritize work, and demonstrate impact.
• Improve information architecture, voice, consistency, searchability, project prioritization, and team practices while mentoring teammates.

Requirements

• Experience writing or documenting enterprise or developer-facing software, with a portfolio or writing samples demonstrating technical depth.
• Hands-on experience using AI tools and models in a writing workflow, including the ability to evaluate and verify their output.
• Experience with docs-as-code, including command-line Git, GitHub pull requests and reviews, Markdown, and common IDEs.
• Ability to set up, run, and troubleshoot software independently in technical environments such as the command line, containers, or Kubernetes, or willingness to learn quickly.
• Experience collaborating with engineers and product managers to obtain accurate technical information.
• Experience working remotely and asynchronously on a distributed team.
• Curiosity about AI workflows, technical credibility, strong judgment and editing skills, ownership of multiple projects, and the ability to write clearly and concisely for readers at all experience levels.
