Staff Technical Writer (AI)

Location: Remote in Canada; other listed remote locations include Germany, Ireland, Spain, the UK, and the USA. In-person onboarding is expected.

Base compensation in Canada: CAD 145,000–178,000; another stated range is CAD 120,927–145,113. Equity, bonus where applicable, and other benefits may also apply.

hirify.global develops Grafana Cloud and related open-source and enterprise observability products for monitoring, logs, traces, metrics, and telemetry.

What you will do

• Plan, research, write, and maintain concepts, tasks, tutorials, references, and in-product learning content for Grafana observability products.
• Use AI tools for drafting, structuring, technical validation, consistency checks, and content maintenance while verifying all generated output.
• Improve shared AI workflows and automate documentation creation and maintenance as tools and models evolve.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, subject matter experts, and writers to turn complex technical details into clear documentation.
• Run and test software, identify product and UX gaps, use documentation analytics and user feedback to prioritize work, and improve information architecture.
• Manage multiple projects, communicate changing priorities, and mentor teammates.

Requirements

• Experience documenting enterprise or developer-facing software, with a portfolio or writing samples demonstrating technical depth.
• Hands-on experience using AI tools and models in a writing workflow, including the ability to evaluate and verify their output.
• Experience with docs-as-code, including command-line Git, GitHub pull requests and reviews, Markdown, and common IDEs.
• Ability to set up, run, and troubleshoot software independently in technical environments such as command line tools, containers, or Kubernetes, or willingness to learn quickly.
• Experience collaborating with engineers and product managers to obtain accurate technical information.
• Experience working remotely and asynchronously on a distributed team.
• Curiosity about AI workflows, strong technical judgment and editing skills, ownership of multiple projects, and the ability to write clearly and concisely for readers at all experience levels.

• Experience with observability, monitoring, cloud-native tooling, or open-source documentation.
